Shawn Mullen
Youth Group Leader
Where are you from and what is your background?
I was born in Vorhees, NJ and lived there for a bit but spent a majority of my life in NC and have lived in Boone, NC for the last 11 years.
Tell us about the special people in your life.
I have an amazing wife, Carmen, whom I have been married to since August of 2016. My family is stretched between most states from NJ to NC so we have the East Coast covered.
What is something most people might not know about you?
I love to play hockey and actually played some college level hockey for the ASU Men's Ice Hockey team.
What are you most likely to do in your spare time?
In my spare time, I am likely to be hanging out with my friends, playing some sort of sport, or helping out with officiating local basketball tournaments.
How has knowing Jesus Christ changed your life?
Honestly, I can't remember a time I didn't know Jesus. One thing I am sure of, in my life I have had opportunities to make the wrong decisions/choices, but Jesus guided me on the paths that I needed to be on. Without His guidance and His word, I would not be who I am today.
What drew you to become a part of Trinity?
Before our marriage, my wonderful wife brought me to Trinity. I had been praying to find my way back to a Church that exemplified the love of Jesus, and not only did He bring me to this wonderful church, but he brought me a wonderful wife!
Trinity is known as "a place of grace." What does that mean to you?
When I think of Trinity as "a place of grace" the phrase, "come as you are" often comes to mind. I see it really show through everyone at this church.
What do you find meaningful about the ministry God has given you?
I feel as though God has placed me in youth ministry because He has blessed me with the ability to connect with young people. One of the reasons I chose to officiate Middle School and High School basketball 10 years ago was to be a positive influence in the lives of our youth. Being in youth ministry has provided me the opportunity to serve Him while getting to be a positive influence in their lives.
